The images were photographed by Dr. Ushanoff during a visit to the Russian village of Nikolaevsk, Alaska, established on the Kenai Peninsula in 1969. Included are street views, the church, the school under construction, children at play, village homes, and individuals: Mrs. Kulagin, Mrs. Ashia Dolgopolov, Mr. and Mrs. Prokhor Martushev.

Dr. V.V. Ushanoff of Laguna Beach, Calif. emigrated to the U.S. from Russia. Following his retirement as a dentist in Calif., he began a concentrated study of Russian Alaska.
